Acts of Service

Intro

We are wired to support others. When we give, we feel connected and alive.

Psychology calls this the ‘helper’s high’, the act of giving boosts our mood, resilience, sense of meaning, and even our lifespan. But in a fast world, it’s easy to get self-focused… so here’s the ‘selfish’ wisdom: serving others lifts your own wellbeing.

Small acts add up. When service becomes a habit, you raise the energy around you and tend to attract kindness and love into your life. This tool keeps it simple so you can start now.

Instructions

  1. Who are important people in your life right now?List 5 or more important people in your life, across family, friends, colleagues or classmates, even neighbors.
  2. What are some ways you can show up for each of them?List 2 ideas per person, big and small, such as sending a voice message to check in on them, offering a ride, cooking a meal, etc.
  3. Which ideas feel most energizing and authentic for you?Choose 3 to 5 that feel actionable and exciting, solely from a simple desire to show kindness and do an act of service.
